Dogs For Adoption
We focus on finding the right fit for our dogs and their future families. There is an adoption fee, which is displayed on each dog’s advert.
We offer a 2-week trial period to ensure the match works for both you and the dog—if it doesn’t, we’ll take them back.
We also have private adoptions available. These dogs may still be with their original owners or in foster care when our shelter is full. Reach out we are happy to help!
Meet our Dogs
At Byron Dog Rescue, our dogs are treated like family. We’re a no-kill shelter, and every dog stays with us until they find their forever home.
Unlike most shelters, our dogs live together as a social pack, not isolated in kennels, helping them stay confident and well-adjusted.
This rare approach in Australia makes their journey to adoption smoother and happier.
MAXI
Breed: Kelpie x Bull Arab
Age: 1 year | Male
Maxi is a goofy, affectionate pup with a big heart and endless love to give. Rescued from the pound, he’s now looking for a forever home filled with love, stability, and stimulation.
He thrives on one-on-one attention, loves to play, and is quick to learn with treats. After a day of fun, he’s happiest curled up beside you for cuddles.
Because Maxi is reactive to cars, he’s best suited to a calm home away from traffic – ideally a farm, acreage, or property with space to run.
With ongoing training and patience, he’ll blossom into a loyal, well-rounded companion.
Maxi needs:
- A loving family or person with time and consistency
- Space to explore, away from cars
- Enrichment, training, and play
- Plenty of cuddles and affection

JACK
Breed: Jack Russell x Maltese
Age: 8 years | Male | Desexed
Jack is a super-friendly , playful and affectionate soul who adores cuddles. He's the perfect indoor buddy for relaxed afternoons and quiet evenings at home. He loves people, so much so that he doesn't want to share the love with any other pets and so is best suited as the only pet at home.
Jack will need a safe and secure garden/yard area to chill and enjoy the sunshine. He enjoys a walk at least once a day, please be aware though, he can be a little reactive to other dogs, so he does not need to say hello when passing by.
Jack is looking for a family that will welcome him as a cherished member. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddle-loving companion who will bring warmth and joy into your life, Jack is waiting to become your snuggle buddy and lifelong friend.
Medical notes: Jack is on small dosage of anti anxiety meds to help him remain calm. His anxiety only get the better of him when he is left alone for long periods of time. For this reason Jack needs to be in a home where his human is not away for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

I much prefer cats to dogs! I'm well behaved, I walk nicely on a lead without pulling and I understand basic commands, such as Come, Sit, No and my fave... walkie!
I am a little nervous of other dogs, as they haven't always been friendly to me, so I'm not sure about them now.
I also get a little nervous around children, so it's best I live in a home where there aren't any children around.I just like to chill with my owner and have a little walk each day.
