Dogs For Adoption
We focus on finding the right fit for our dogs and their future families. There is an adoption fee, which is displayed on each dog’s advert.
We offer a 2-week trial period to ensure the match works for both you and the dog—if it doesn’t, we’ll take them back.
We also have private adoptions available. These dogs may still be with their original owners or in foster care when our shelter is full. Reach out we are happy to help!
Meet our Dogs
At Byron Dog Rescue, our dogs are treated like family. We’re a no-kill shelter, and every dog stays with us until they find their forever home.
Unlike most shelters, our dogs live together as a social pack, not isolated in kennels, helping them stay confident and well-adjusted.
This rare approach in Australia makes their journey to adoption smoother and happier.
Maxi - needs love and a home!
Meet Maxi – Big Paws, Bigger Heart!
Maxi is a 11 -month-old Kelpie x Bull Arab pup with a heart as giant as his future paws! This sweet, goofy boy was rescued from the pound after being abandoned without so much as a microchip!
Maxi is a total softie - submissive, gentle, and great with other dogs. He LOVES his treats (major training motivation right there!) and is already learning fast. Yes, he’ll be a big boy, but he’s also a champion cuddler and part-time couch potato.
He’ll need ongoing training, exercise, and plenty of love to grow into the magnificent companion he’s destined to be. A farm, property, or an active home would suit him perfectly.

Cash - a beautiful soul
Meet Cash – Boxer Heart, Survivor Spirit
Cash is a 5-year-old desexed Boxer x with a story that will melt your heart.
Despite a difficult start - he was kicked as a youngster, leaving his muzzle a little crooked - Cash has never lost his gentle, playful soul.
He was later taken in by a kind young man who loved him dearly but, despite his best efforts, couldn’t meet all Cash’s needs. As a result, Cash spent over a year chained up before arriving at our open-air shelter. Now, he’s thriving- soaking up affection, playing with other dogs, and proving he’s a true softie at heart. He’s even lived peacefully with a cat!
Loyal, loving, and full of Boxer energy, Cash will need some continued training (especially on-lead—he’s a strong boy), but he’s eager to please and quick to learn.

Yindi - Perfect for a family!
Meet Yindi – The Sweetest Blue Heeler Looking for a Forever Home!
Yindi is a 4-year-old Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) cross Saluki, with a heart of gold and a gentle, loving soul.
Sadly, Yindi was essentially “dumped” and has already endured two unsuccessful foster placements, not because of any fault of her own, but she simply does not get on with chooks!
Now that we know her a little better, here’s what we can tell you:

She already knows her basic commands, walks well on leash, and is friendly with other dogs. She’s unfazed by livestock, making her a great fit for a rural or suburban home. (She’s untested with cats.)

Freya is a female, 3-year-old, Great Dane/Mastiff X (weighs 32 kg)

Don’t be put off by her size – Freya is a big, gentle goofball! She loves playing with other dogs and gets along well with cats. She would be happiest in a home with another dog for company.
Although Freya is enjoying her time at our shelter, she would truly thrive in a family home where she can experience more companionship and daily affection. She’s a sweet and gentle soul who just needs someone to share her big heart with. She comes from a home where they just couldn’t give her the attention she deserves!
Due to her size and strength, she’s not suited to a home with small children. Freya will also need a large, secure yard to stretch out and play.

Nala is a gentle, friendly, and social girl with a heart full of love. A caring family member rescued her after a tragic incident, but sadly, the home’s resident female dog has not accepted her and has attacked her. Nala is being kept separated at all times, which is causing her significant stress.
She’s great with kids (having lived with young children before), gentle and submissive with other dogs, and is currently playing well with a tiny 4-month-old pup. While she does pull a little on the lead, she just needs some basic training and time.
💫 What Nala Needs: a loving forever home, a seure, fully fenced yard (non-negotiable, and a person or family totally committed to her happiness and gentle guidance :)
⚠️ Nala’s situation is urgent — we have no space in our shelter and she cannot remain in her current home. Please help us find this beautiful girl the peaceful life she deserves.
